KARAKORUM,
HIMALAYA AND HINDUKUSH CYCLE TOUR
There are plenty of opportunities for cross
Country Mountain bicycling in all the mountain
ranges of the country. However, due to higher
temperatures in the mountains except for the
Northern Pakistan, this sport can only be undertaken
during the winters. The smooth lower hills of Swat,
Azad Kashmir, and Galliyat provide adequate
opportunities for mountain bikers.
A tour of northern mountain region on bikes is a
thrilling adventure. You can choose to drive on KKH,
a visit to Hunza Valley, or pass through alpine
valley of Kaghan, the scenery is catching and
rewarding making your adventure a life time memory.
The mountainous valley of Kaghan offers excellent
mountain biking opportunities. Biking trips from
Mansehra to Balakot(50 km), from Balakot to Shogran
(30 km), from Shogran to Kaghan (40 km), Kaghan to
Naran (26 km), Naran to Burawai (30 km), from
Burawai to Lake Lulusar (25 km), downhill from Fairy
Meadows to Raikot Bridge (21 km) and from Babusar
village to Chilas (40 km) are some enthralling
biking trips carefully suited to the needs and
tastes of mountain biking adventuress.
ITINERARY
Day 1:
Arrive at Islamabad airport and transfer to the
hotel.
Day 2:
Islamabad / Dir (approx 7 hrs driving) Overnight
Dir.
Day 3:
Drive to Kalash Valley (7 hrs driving) via
Lowari Pass. Overnight camping in Bumburet.
Day 4:
Bike trip to Chitral, overnight in hotel.
Day 5:
Bike trip to Shandur pass. The pass, 3734M is
blocked by snow for most of the year, but in summer
its flat top is pastureland and two small lake make
beautiful spot Shandur is famous for its polo match
between Gilgit and Chital. overnight camping at
Shandur.
Day 6: Bike trip through Pandur valley. Overnight stay in
hotel.
Day 7:
Bike trip to Gilgit; is the largest marketplace
for hundreds of kilometers in any direction, home of
the polo game, there are usually at least a practice
match, mostly afternoon.
Day 8: Morning biking to the seventh century Kargah
Buddha just out side Gilgit, at afternoon cycling in
the local bazaar. Overnight stay in hotel.
Day 9:
Bike trip to Karimabad, Hunza. On the way you can
see the fields and orchards of Hunza Vallley and
view of Rakaposhi (7788m). Hunza is also famous for
long lively of its inhabitant. Overnight stay in
hotel.
Day 10:
Morning after breakfast Bike trip to Passu,
overnight stay in Passu.
Day 11:
Bike trip to Khunjerab Pass (4733m) and bikking back
to Sost, (approx 7 hrs driving). Overnight Passu.
Day 12:
Bike trip to Hunza, Sightseeing in Karimabad.
Overnight stay in hotel at Karimabad.
Day 13: Bike trip to Skardu. Following the Indus River we
inter Skardu. From spring to autumn the valley is
more attractive, the field and orchards coming alive
with the colors in stark contrast to the gray
surrounding.
Day 14: Cycling over the sandy desert to Shigar Valley.
Abroad and fertile valley its orchards produce some
of the best fruits including apricot, mulberry,
apple, plums, and ruts. Shigar has some very
impressive old wooden houses and very pleasant area
to wander. Return to Skardu.
Day 15:
Leave Skardu Village, passing Satpara Lake with
its beautiful deep waters, to reach the pass into
the Deosai Plateau which for a months covered in
beautiful wild flowers. Overnight in camp.
Day 16: Skardu / Deosai (4-5 hrs). Overnight camping.
Day 17:
Bike trip to Rama, Astor valley. (Approx.5-6
hrs). Overnight camping.
Day 18: Excursion to Rama Lake (3482 m). From here you can
view Chongra Mountain, part of Naga Parbat. And then
bike trip back to Chilas. Overnight stay in hotel at
Chilas.
Day 19: Drive to Islamabad/Rawalpindi via Taxila
archaeological site (09-10 hrs drive).
Day 20:
City tour of Islamabad / Rawalpindi. And then
transfer to the airport for flight (End of
services).
