Uch 75kms from Bahawalpur is a very old town. It is believed that it existed in 500 BC, some historian believed that Uch was there even before the advent of Bikramajit when Jains and Buddhists ruled over the sub-continent. At the time of invasion by the Alexander the great, Uch was under the Hindu rule. Some historian says that Alexander came to Uch after conquering Northern Part of India and spent over fortnight in the city and renamed it Alexandria. Some have mentioned Uch by the name of Sikandara of Iskalanda. They have described it as most flourishing and beautiful town perched upon the plateau, near the confluence of Chinab and Ravi rivers. Famous shrines exist at Uch including those of Hazrat Bahawal Haleem, Hazrat Jalaluddin Surkh Bukhari, Makhdoom Jahanian Jahangast, Bibi Jiwandi and Saikh Saifuddin Ghazrooni, etc.
