Highlights of the festival
Artisans-at-work (Gilgit, Karimabad & Skardu) – Mater artisans from remote part of Northern Areas will be at work in beautifully designed and documented pavilions.

Folkloric Songs & Dance Ensembles (Gilgit, Aliabad, Gulmit, Karimabad & Skardu) – Folk Dances and Musicians from all part of Northern Areas including Dance,  Song Ensembles from the neighboring Xinjiang Province of China and Central Asia will be invited to entertain visitors the festival.

Folk Music Group – Small open air stage will be setup at the festival grounds in the different cities to present musicians from all over the Northern Areas.

Exotic Craft Bazaar – Exotic Local Bazaar will be held including Sunday and Friday markets for the local communities in several places. Farmer will exhibit and sell fruits.

Polo Matches and Indigenous Sports Events – Several Polo Matches will serve as a major attraction for foreign visitors at Gilgit and Skardu.

Camping Village and Open air Restaurants – will be set up at the scenic spot for nature lovers.

Ethnic Fashion Show – Depicting regional costumes and cultural traditions will be held.

Community Festival at District level – AKCSP, AKRSP and Craft Development Projects, Literary and Cultural Forums, IUCN, WWF and other NGOs will hold community Festival at District Levels.

Day 1Arrive in Islamabad, Pakistan

Arrival at Islamabad international airport, transfer to centrally located hotel/guest house. In the afternoon site seeing of twin cities (Islamabad & Rawalpindi), visit modern mosque Shah Faisal, Doman-e-koh, Shakarparian hills, Lok Versa, Modern markets (Jinnah supper & super markets), Raja Bazaar, Cant area etc. O/N stay in hotel

Day 2Islamabad – Taxila – Besham:

This morning, we will start our journey (5-6 hrs drive) toward the mountain kingdom of North Pakistan on the famous Karakorum Highway/ancient silk route. En route visit Taxila Museum (1-hour drive). The modern town of Taxila is 35 km from Islamabad. Most of the Archeological Sites at Taxila (600 B.C-500 A.D) are located around Taxila Museum. For over 1000years, Taxila remained famous of as a center of learning in respect of Gandhara Art of Sculpture, education, and Buddhism in the days of Buddhist glory. There are over 50 archeological sites scattered in a radius of 30 km around Taxila. Some of the most important sites include Dharmarajika, Stupa, and Monastery (300 B.C – 200 A.D), Bhir Mound (600-200 B.C) Sirkap (200 B.C – 600 A.D, Jundial Temple (250 B.C), and Julian Monastery (200-600 A.D). After our visit, we continue our drive, en route we will stop for a cup of Pakistani tea and toilet break. O/N stay at the hotel.

Day 3Besham – Chilas – Gilgit:

It is long day 12 hrs drive but the scenery en route more than makes up for it. Before reached to Gilgit en route we will face some interesting photogenic stops at the pre-historic rock carving inscription at Shatial, rocks with ancient graffiti’s at Chilas, viewpoint of Nanga Parbat (9th highest peak of the world) offers breathtaking panorama on behind, the unique point where three mountain ranges, Karakorum, Himalayas, and Hindukush meet and our next stop will be at confluence of River Indus & Gilgit.

Day 4Gilgit (Explore the charm of festival)

Explore the charm of festival in Gilgit, we will visit bazaar, walk on the river side oad, suspension bridge and in the afternoon watch the Polo Match.

Day 5Gilgit – Karimabad, Hunza Valley:

For half a day, we will drive along the beautiful Hunza River, one of the most special parts of Pakistan, en route visit Chinise graveyard, monuments, Rakaposhi viewpoints. As we approach Karimabad the peak Rakaposhi (7788m) dominates the skyline to the east. Above Hunza stands the prominent rock spire Bublimating 6000m and the Impressive Ultar peaks. The former Mir of Hunza now lives in Modern Palace in Karimabad. We will have time to explore the shops and city of Karimabad. Overnight stay at hotel.

Day 6Full day Hunza Valley & Nagir Valley Tour

The tour will include meeting with local folks, understanding the secrets of their longevity and also visit some of the important historical sites including the recently renovated, simple yet overpowering, Baltit Fort and the Altit Fort.

Day 07Karimabad – Khunjerab Pass – Sost - Passu

Full day excursion to Khunjerab Pass. We will make less stops along the road because our priority will be reaching on top before 12 noon. Because from noon to onward weather change. We will spend half an hour on top and on the way back we will make several photo stops of high mountains and you will also get chance to see Ibex (mountain sheeps) along the road. We will back to Sost around late noon and we will have village & bazaar walk. Dinner will be served at hotel.

Day 8Passu - Atabad Lake - Rakaposhi - Gilgit

Following breakfast, we will drive back to Gilgit. Today we will have several interesting photo stops include Batura Glacier, Pass Cathedrals, Passu peak, walk on Hussani suspension bridge , 30 minutes boating at Atabad Lake and visit Rock Carving. After all these, we will continue 3 hours drive back to Gilgt. Remaining time we will visit Karga Buddha, Gilgit Bazaar Walk. Check-in at hotel and dinner will be served.

Day 9Gilgit - Chilas - Besham

following the breakfast, we will drive back to Besham (midway). Along the road we will make stops for tea, toilet and photography. we will reach Besham around evening, check-in at hotel and dinner will be served.

Day 10Besham - Islamabad

Drive back to Islamabad. En route we will see truck art painting and rest of the day reserved for shopping.

Day 11Islamabad - Fly Back

You will be transfer to Islamabad International Airport to embark home flight. From peace and serenity of Hunza to the hustle and bustles of “modern” trends, you say Khuda Hafiz, the typical farewell, as you depart after a tour into Shangri-La. End of the tour.
